We just arrived home today from Wilmington....we were planning on coming in yesterday but discovered late Wednesday night---thanks to a nice lady who pulled along side us to let us know---that our tail lights were not working. So we decided to get those fixed Thursday and to wait to travel until today as it was raining yesterday. I'm glad that we waited as we had a great day yesterday....we finished scanning some photos that Linda had brought for us to look at from when the kids were younger and we played loaded questions after dinner. It was an awesome week. We enjoyed the ocean and sand and the company of family......Thorben hit it off well with Lauren and Brad and Tommy got to spend time with grandpa and Linda. My hubby has the most wonderful family.....and I love them dearly. Robin and Boyd were gone to Hati on a mission trip so we didn't get to see them but they did skype with the kids the last night we were there so we briefly introduced them to Thorben. We looked at pictures from when Tommy was young and Linda brought her wedding album to share. We went to the Life Center....which is part of their church and played pool and air hockey (me, Tommy, Thorben and Brad) and we watched a lot of baseball with grandpa. We went to Rucker John's on Thursday night for dinner...Thorben had a mushroom chicken dish, Brad and Tommy both had a sampler with ribs and BBQ chicken and I had prime rib....yummy! We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast one day and Thorben got to try grits...he said they have something similar in Germany and that he liked them but they are not his favorite. He really liked the apples there. He loves juice (both apple and orange) and he has tried several of the flavors that go into the bottled water. I learned some things about him playing the loaded questions game. His favorite candy bar is 'Kit Kat' and his heros are his father and Harry Potter.....Laruen had us both laughing up a storm during game time and we had a blast.....Linda played with us and she is quite a hoot herself. We also went to Chris’ Cosmic Kitchen one day for breakfast and learned that they will be closing at the end of this month….kind of sad as it is a very good place to eat. They brought Thorben three of the biggest chocolate chip pancakes I have ever seen. They lasted him the rest of the week. Tommy had French toast and I had a western omlet. Lauren went with us that morning as she didn’t have a class. She ended up dropping her Tuesday/Thursday class so she is only part-time as there were many classes she wanted to take that were not available when she registered. Brad has a full schedule with Anatomy, Biology, Statistics and Chemistry…..sounds like a nightmare to me….lol. He’s a smart kid…he can handle it. It was so cool watching him being so responsible….making sure his sister was ready on time for school….doing household chores…..showing Linda where things were…..he has really grown into a very fine young man….very mature/very mature. I miss those kids already…..I wish we lived closer.:(
We got to witness Thorben’s amazing talent this week……a couple of days after Hairspray….Thorben and Brad were playing around with Brad’s keyboard…..and Thorben started playing some of the tunes from the show…..songs he had heard for the first time just a few days before…..we were all amazed at his gift! We gotta find this kid a piano!
