Tonight I pulled up at Blue Moose to get a coffee and the Christmas lights were all lit up and Perry Como was singing ‘The Christmas Song’ on the speakers and it was all I could do not to burst out in tears. Sometimes I miss you so much I think my heart is going to break into pieces. Christmas was one of your favorite times of year….oh how you LOVED to give to others….I think it was one of the few things that brought you true joy….you had a generous spirit….Oh at how I miss sharing this season with you. I saw this precious video this morning that I shared on the blog…of a little girl sharing the story of Jonah....it would have made you smile…..what I would give to see that smile….just one more time….we take these things for granted…the smiles of those we love….laughter….and times together…..help me LORD….to never take for granted…one moment….one smile…..one word….one opportunity…..and comfort my heart Lord….this holiday….and remind me that my precious mom is with you and she is smiling like she has never smiled before.

The story of Jonah.
This is the most precious video that a friend of mine shared with me this morning (Thanks Donna). It brought such joy to my heart....I hope it does the same for you. Children are SO pure!

Through the Eyes of God
God has been showing me so many things lately….more than I can handle sometimes……many of them things about myself and how very little I understand of the true meaning of love or pain. Yesterday I sat with a child….ok….a teenager….who was in SO much pain….I am afraid for this kid….he doesn’t believe in God….I have tried to talk to him about God several times using different approaches and my words bounce back at me….so he doesn’t have the hope I have….it’s like Satan has him in his grips….I made a phone call to his mother last night and I told her I felt he was at serious risk of taking his own life…..it breaks my heart….he is a wonderful kid….he has compassion for others and a beautiful smile and an ability to forgive others….but not himself…..pray for him….
I could share 20 others stories like this…..and so could you….think about the little girl Zara…..do you ever think about what her last minutes on this earth were like….how scared she must have been…..did she cry out for her mum?…..did she understand what was happening?.....I heard on the radio last night that a little girl in Charlotte was hit by a car while waiting for the bus….it did give me hope in the human condition to hear that the man who hit her got out of the car and waited with her until help arrived even though he was driving with a revoked license….praise God that his conscious over ruled his fear…..what must he be going through knowing he did this to this precious child….it could have been any of us…..
I guess sometimes I start thinking about whoas me and then I realize that I am SO blessed…..so many people are in so much pain and they need the love of Jesus…..help me Lord to be able to take care of myself and stay closely connected to you so that I can give them what they need at the right time when YOU provide the opportunities…..I know that I can do NOTHING without you and when I try to help others on my own….I just end up making things worse…..please help me to see with your eyes and serve with your heart and to never forget that it is ALL about YOU!!

Washington DC trip
Matheus traveled to Washington DC with an AFS group......he left on Nov 10th, with a fellow foreign exchange student, Gunay. Gunay's host father, Dr. Einstein transported Gunay and Matheus to the Charlotte area where they spent the night with a family before rising EARLY to depart for the capital. They were gone until the 14th and got to visit several places including Colonial Williamsberg on their way back where they stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge and enjoyed the indoor water park there.
Matheus made a new friend during the ferry ride.
They visited Colonial

It was really cool as they ended up being there on Memorial Day and there were flowers placed at the memorials in honor of those who have given their lives for our country.
Check out this video of the changing of the guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier on the next post.
He returned on Nov 14th....Tommy and I picked him up at Concord Mills Mall....

ASU vs. Wofford
Today Tommy and I attended the Wofford game....Matheus is in Washington DC with a group from AFS. We missed him but we know he is having a GREAT time and getting to see many of the sites of our capital.
ASU won their sixth straight SoCon title today when they defeated Woffard 43-13.
It was also the day I discovered I have a video component on my camera....ha.
Check out some pics and a video of ASU moving down the field in the second quarter.
